Can’t think what to do with that fresh pumpkin puree left over from your Thanksgiving baking? If you even thought of throwing it away, you’re about to be haunted by remorse…
Everyone loves French toast, and I’m sure you’re no exception. But did you know that you can make Pumpkin Pie French Toast with those leftovers you were so casually dismissing?
Now why would French toast and pumpkin flavor be one of those ‘perfect combos’? Now add some maple syrup…
Pumpkin Pie French Toast
I can’t think of a faster – or more inspired – way of using leftover pumpkin pie filling.
Think about it: you already have milk, eggs and cinnamon included in your pumpkin puree (same ingredients as French toast). All you have to do is dip your bread in your puree – and voila: pumpkin French toast!
. Leftover pumpkin pie filling
. Sliced Bread
. Maple Syrup
. flat dish for the filling
. large skillet (preferably non-stick)
. spatula for flipping
Use a non-stick skillet or add some oil in a regular skillet.
For 4 bread slices, you will need approximately a half cup of filling.
1. Preheat your skillet to medium heat (the warmer, the better).
2. Dip both sides of your bread slices into the pie filling or use a spoon to spread on both sides.
3. Transfer slices to skillet and cook until lightly browned on both sides.
4. Sprinkle with icing sugar, top with syrup and serve.
