The dual sandwich press grill measures 6”H x 10.5”W x 8”D, weighs 5.5 lbs and comes with a one-year limited warranty, plus a starter sample of quick and easy recipes.
For easier cleanup, it is recommended that you spray both rings and cooking plate with non-stick spray both before use and after washing. All removable parts are dishwasher safe once they have been allowed to cool. First loosen any baked-on ingredients with the help of a plastic or wooden utensil. A word of warning: if you buy this grill sandwich maker expecting to layer cold cuts, cheese, veggies, etc., all you will end up with is a big mess. By design, this Cuisinart sandwich grill does not allow for thick sandwiches.
The operating manual clearly spells out how to make sandwiches or omelets with this appliance:
.standard thickness breads (approximately 1/2″) are best for sandwiches;
.thicker sliced breads (5/8″-1″) are recommended for French toast;
.bread should be trimmed if needed to best fit the size of the sandwich plate (5″ x 4 1⁄2″);
.use olive oil or room temperature/melted butter or margarine to coat the outside of the bread;
.moist ingredients such as sliced tomatoes, fruit or pickles should be patted dry with a paper towel, while sauces (tomato, salsa, etc.), leftover cooked vegetables and thawed frozen vegetables should be drained for a short time to remove excess liquid.

While Cuisinart has acquired a well-deserved stellar reputation for engineering high-quality appliances, they seem to have missed the mark on this one. While it works perfectly well for making omelets or French toast, it would need to incorporate a hinge in order to accommodate the height of a decent grilled sandwich – like their griddle grill does.

Users love the versatility of this appliance but as a pocket sandwich maker, its use is very limited. Again, the wells are shallow and will only accommodate a small, thin sandwich.
There are reports of the latched lid breaking after only a few uses, mostly due to people trying to over stuff their sandwiches: “anything more than two paper napkins thick” will strain the latch and cause spilling…
The “EZ Clean” label is also being challenged. The plates may be easy to clean, but when ingredients spill out and get baked into the gaps or onto the sides, it becomes practically impossible to clean.
While grilled sandwich makers can prove very useful for breakfast time, they also come in handy to prepare quick, scrumptious lunches using fresh ingredients – or even a light dinner with a side soup when you don’t feel like cooking.
Just be warned: get one for your dorm room, and you’ll make many friends indeed – but be prepared to keep it under lock and key: it would appear that these little wizards have a tendency to temporarily vanish on a regular basis…
