Cleaning
This unit almost cleans itself as most parts go straight in the dishwasher, except for the grinding plates, wooden stomper and knife which must be hand washed in warm, sudsy water and dried thoroughly. Try running a piece of bread through before dismantling the unit to make cleanup easier.

KitchenAid Mixer Attachments Uses

Here’s a quick overview of what each of the above attachment combos can accomplish:

*Fruit & Vegetable Strainer Parts (FVSP): turn unpeeled apple slices into smooth apple sauce, whip up apple butter in minutes, make jelly or fresh, healthy baby food;

*Rotor Slicer & Shredder (RVSA): slice vegetables for a variety of dishes (potato chips, scalloped potatoes, hash browns, coleslaw, apples for pies, etc.), shred cheeses (cheddar with the coarser cone, parmesan with the finer one);

*Sausage Stuffer (SSA): make sausages out of ground meat or mixtures;

*Citrus Juicer (JE): quickly extract juice from citrus fruit and catch the seeds in a built-in strainer – a great investment if you’re into making home preserves.

*Vegetable & Fruit Strainer Set (FVSFGA): grind meat or make breadcrumbs with the food grinder, slice vegetables to make veggie chips or coleslaw, shred carrots for a carrot cake, potatoes for hash browns or cheese for pasta or tacos; use the strainer to make sauces, jams or baby food. A well rounded set of tools that accomplishes A LOT!

Tips

There have been a few complaints about a crack developing in the base of the housing. Here are some tips to help you fully enjoy your FGA mixer grinder:
*Make sure you follow manufacturer’s instructions when installing the attachment and use the wrench for removal only, not to tighten the ring;
*Remove chunks of gristle and larger pieces of sinew from your meat;
*Keep your meat really cold or even freeze it as you grind to facilitate the grinding process;
*Avoid grinding hard, dried homemade bread; use fresh bread that has been oven or air dried instead;
*Cheese will slice or grate more easily if left in your freezer for 10-15 minutes before you start.
