Wormy Halloween Hot Dogs Comin’ Up!

Wormy Halloween Hot DogsHow about some wormy Halloween hot dogs to surprise friends and family and maybe even totally freak them out? Who doesn’t love a great hot dog, or maybe wieners for a quick, easy meal that tastes awesome? When you’re rushed for time, they are a perfect go-to solution that the whole family can enjoy.

But how about giving the traditional wiener a Halloween twist and turning it into creepy crawlers – worms to be more specific. That is sure to gross out just about everybody.

Arm yourself with enough ‘worms’ for each person, and let your imagination run loose. Wiener worms have to be the very best ammunition you can find for Halloween meals or just when you want to get creepy, say when the kids – big or small – misbehave… 🙂

First, get enough wiener sausages for everyone or better yet, make your own sausages from scratch.

With the sausages on your cutting board, use a sharp knife to cut down the middle of each creating two halves. Cut them again down the length either in half or in thirds depending on the size of your sausages, so you end up with thin strips.

Some people like to score one edge of their hot dogs to encourage them to curl more. Just be careful not to cut all the way through.

…And POOF! We’ve Got Wiener Worms!!!

If you’re using wieners, they should curl naturally by simply boiling them. You can even use a microwave depending on the type of sausage you are dealing with.

Fatter sausages can be grilled, but tread carefully – you don’t want all that hard work to worm its way through your grill and into the fire. Fun to watch, but you’ll all go hungry…

Regardless of the method you use, as the hot dogs cook, they will start curling and looking more and more like worms.

Let Me Count the Ways…

Wiener wormsMake sure you’ve stocked up on ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish, pickles, etc. – the usual condiments that accompany hamburgers or hot dogs.

Pile your worms up on hot dog buns with a few blobs of ketchup peering through, or make a fully garnished hamburger and add some worms for legs or simply pile them up on top.

Of simply serve as an appetizer with condiments for dipping.

You can really let your imagination run wild and have fun with this one!
